The Rule Detective

Investigating Rules, Law, and Authority

£12.99

A 42-page activity-packed workbook.

Why do we have rules? Who gets to make them? And does having authority always mean someone is right?

The Rule Detective is a 42-page critical thinking workbook that invites children to investigate the rules, laws and authority they encounter in everyday life. Through stories, real-world examples, Curious Challenges and discussion prompts, children explore why societies have rules, who holds authority, what makes a rule fair or unfair, and whether rules should ever be questioned or changed.

Rather than simply teaching children what the rules are, The Rule Detective encourages them to ask why. Children are invited to consider different perspectives, investigate rules they encounter in real life and develop their own ideas. There isn’t always one ‘right’ answer. The conversations and questions are part of the learning.

Designed primarily for ages 7–11, with younger children benefiting from adult support.

Digital edition: A4, 42-page downloadable PDF. Download, print and work through it at home at your own pace.
